# Model Licenses

The license for RF-DETR and YOLO models, and the commercial license Roboflow includes when you deploy on Roboflow or self-host.

Each model carries the license of its upstream project. That license decides whether you can use the model in a commercial product without open-sourcing your own code.

Where you deploy matters more than which plan you have. Deploying on Roboflow cloud (the [Serverless Cloud API](https://docs.roboflow.com/deployment/roboflow-cloud/serverless-api), [Dedicated Deployments](https://docs.roboflow.com/deployment/roboflow-cloud/dedicated-deployments), [Batch Processing](https://docs.roboflow.com/deployment/roboflow-cloud/batch-processing), and Workflows run on Roboflow) includes a commercial license for every user, including the free Core plan. Plans only matter when you self-host: commercial self-hosting of AGPL-3.0 YOLO models and PML 1.0 RF-DETR models is an Enterprise add-on.

<table data-search="false"><thead><tr><th>License</th><th>Deploy on Roboflow cloud</th><th>Self-host</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Apache 2.0 (RF-DETR)</td><td>Commercial use included</td><td>Commercial use included, no fee</td></tr><tr><td>PML 1.0 (RF-DETR XL and 2XL detection, RF-DETR NAS models)</td><td>Commercial use included for every user</td><td>Commercial use needs the Enterprise add-on</td></tr><tr><td>AGPL-3.0 (YOLOv5, YOLOv8, YOLOv10, YOLO11, YOLOv12, YOLO26, YOLOE, YOLO-World)</td><td>Commercial use included for every user</td><td>Commercial use needs the Enterprise add-on, or open-sourcing your code under AGPL-3.0</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Apache 2.0

RF-DETR is released under the Apache 2.0 license, so it's commercially usable out of the box: you can ship it in closed-source, commercial products, including self-hosted deployments, without paying a license fee or open-sourcing your code.

Apache 2.0 covers the `rfdetr` Python package, RF-DETR Nano, Small, Medium, and Large detection, every [RF-DETR](/models/supported-models/rf-detr.md) Seg size (Nano through 2XL), and RF-DETR Keypoint.

## Platform Model License

RF-DETR XL and 2XL use the [Roboflow Platform Model License (PML 1.0)](https://roboflow.com/platform-model-license-1-0): commercial use is included when you deploy on Roboflow, and commercial self-hosting requires the Enterprise add-on.

PML 1.0 covers RF-DETR XL and 2XL detection (not the Seg XL and 2XL sizes, which are Apache 2.0) and the models that [Neural Architecture Search](/models/train/neural-architecture-search.md) finds.

## AGPL-3.0

These YOLO models are released under AGPL-3.0. In practice, using one in a commercial product or service, including one users reach over a network, means open-sourcing your application code under AGPL-3.0 or buying a commercial license.

Deploying on Roboflow includes a commercial license for these models for every user. Commercial self-hosting is an Enterprise add-on. See [Roboflow's Ultralytics licensing](https://roboflow.com/ultralytics) for details.

## Other Models

Other models, such as [SAM3](/models/supported-models/sam3.md), [Florence 2](/models/supported-models/florence-2.md), and [CLIP](/models/supported-models/clip.md), carry the license of their upstream project. Check the license in the model's source repository before you ship it in a commercial product. See [Roboflow Licensing](https://roboflow.com/licensing) for how Roboflow Inference and the models it serves are licensed.
